An Alternate Ending- The Rain

((Not a dream just because of the rain.))

She prayed for the rain. She knew what it would mean. She looked at him as he finished the piece he was stooped over, hunger in her golden-brown eyes. When he noticed her watching him, he grinned. She grabbed his hand and said, “Do you wanna play a game?”

He said he’d love to play a game, so she took his hand in hers and towed him outside. The rain fell in sheets around the courtyard. She looked back at him and tried to tow him into the water as it fell to the ground creating giant puddles. He stopped under the archway thinking, “She can’t be serious….” He watched her for a moment, then her laugh drew him from under the eaves and he followed her into the downpour.

She twirled and water droplets flew from her hair to the ground to add to the puddles.

He grinned as she looked at him and shook her hair at him like a dog. He could resist it no more. He took two long strides and was there. He caught her mid twirl and kissed her. Long and deep, they kissed.

Their lips melted together. She forgot the rain and reached up with her arms to hug his neck as he grabbed her around the waist.

The rain made everything more intense. The kiss became sloppier and the clothes clung tightly to their bodies as if it were a second skin.

When they finally pulled apart, the rain had slowed to a drizzle. The flowers on the crepe myrtle trees had spilled onto the ground from the surrounding trees. White and pink wilted flowers littered the court yard. The sun came from behind the clouds and the puddles reflected the skies.

They gazed at each other a moment or more, who could say?

She laughed and the spell was broken.
